THE HOMECOMING AND SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF THE ALUMNI CLASS OF BODIJA ’94
Friday, November 29, 2019

Twenty-five years after the completion of their seminary training in the prestigious Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija, Ibadan, the Bodija Alumni Class of 1994 returned with great joy to their home – Mother Bodija – to mark their silver jubilee celebration, and express their gratitude to the seminary that formed them. The two-day celebration, which spanned from the 26th – 27th of November, 2019, was indeed filled with great moments that helped the ’94 Alumni Class of Bodija to reminisce their days as students of Great Bodija. At about 7pm on the 26th of November, the seminary community together with the Alumni Class had the Vespers and Compline in the Seminary Chapel. Afterwards, all proceeded to the Refectory for dinner and an interactive session; a moment which was indeed cherished by both the students and the celebrants, as the Class, represented by Rev. Fr. Banye Anthony of Issele-Uku Diocese, admonished and encouraged the students as they journey towards the sacred priesthood.

The celebration was, however, brought to its most dignified state with the celebration of the Holy Mass on the 27th of November, 2019. The Mass of Thanksgiving had Rev. Fr. George Ajana of the Diocese of Ekiti, as the Chief Celebrant, and Rev. Fr. Patrick Balogun of the Diocese of Ijebu-Ode as the Homilist. At the end of the Mass, the members of the Class of Bodija ’94 were introduced by Rev. Fr. Anselm Jimoh, a member of the Class and presently a formator at Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija. In appreciation to the seminary, the Class of ’94 presented new sets of liturgical vestments as their token. The closing remarks and a vote of thanks were beautifully presented by the Rector, Fr. Anthony Ewherido, who expressed the seminary’s profound gratitude to the Class for remembering Mother Bodija, and for the kind gesture they have shown to the community. He, however, also invited them to return home more frequently, especially during the yearly Alumni celebration. The procession at the end of the mass led to the front of St. Peter Block, where various photographs were taken in honour of the celebrants.
