Philosophical inquiry is again made practical and valuable to our everyday living. This insightful connection was made by Dr. Sylvester Odia, a professor of Philosophy in the University of Benin at the inaugural lecture of the Philosophy department of Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary Ibadan on 23 November, 2018.

Speaking on the topic: From Democritus’ Atom to Quantum Mechanics: Towards an Epistemology of the Sub-Conscious Mind, Dr. Odia enumerated the activities of the human conscious and sub-conscious mind; with the Atomic theory, he explained the differences in human perceptions, acquisition of knowledge; and the link from a materialistic and mechanistic world to a spiritual, immaterial world which every seminarian should strive to be part.

The lecture was so mind tasking and engaging, even the shrewd input of the moderator, Rev. Fr. Patrick Akinjo left us spellbound.
