THE CELEBRATION OF THE SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE KING
Sunday, November 24, 2019

The celebration of the Solemnity of Christ the King is the recognition and proclamation of the kingship of Jesus Christ, as King of the Universe, whose principles are not of earthly standards, but are born out of love and justice. The last Sunday of every liturgical year (cycle) is dedicated to the celebration of the Christ as King. Hence, in union with the Universal Church, the community of Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija, Ibadan, also celebrated this memorable feast on the 24th of November, 2019. The celebration, which began with the Holy Mass at exactly 7:00am, had Rev. Fr. Hubert Opara as the Chief Celebrant. Present also were concelebrating priests, seminarians, and a large number of the worshipping community. Immediately after the Liturgy of the Eucharist, there was Benediction, after which the procession of the Eucharistic Jesus, exposed through the monstrance, began. The procession, accompanied by beautiful songs and prayers, led through the seminary chapel to strategic points, where the Blessed Sacrament was adored, and concluded in the seminary chapel from where all were dismissed, following the Benediction. Indeed, the celebration was a proclamation of Christ as King both to Catholics and Non-Catholics around the world.
