GREAT BODIJA HOSTS MOST REV. DR. FRANCIS OBAFEMI ADESINA
Friday, January 24, 2020

A year after the episcopal announcement of our erstwhile Rector as a bishop on January 17, 2019, and almost a year after his consecration as the Catholic Bishop of Ijebu-Ode Diocese on April 25, 2019, the Most Rev. Dr. Francis Obafemi Adesina was welcomed back home by the entire community of Great Bodija. With his arrival on Friday, 24th January, 2020, the seminary community had lunch with the Bishop in the Students’ Refectory where all had a relaxing and interactive session. It was indeed an emotional moment, as exactly 284days ago, the seminary community had gathered at the same venue for a send-forth ceremony for the Bishop, who was an erstwhile Rector of Great Bodija. Later in the day, a football match was organized in honour of the Bishop, who is also a lover of good football. Other activities include the solemn celebration of sung vespers at exactly 6:30pm led by Rev. Fr. Francis Adelabu, dinner, and a social event at the seminary auditorium. These moments would always be cherished by the Bishop himself, and all who were present. Nevertheless, the climax of his visit was evident on the 25th of January, 2020, when the Bishop administered the Rite of Candidacy to Fifty-Seven (57) Theology Two Students of Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija, Ibadan. After the mass, the procession led to the front of St. Peter Block where the Bishop blessed a new tractor purchased for use by the seminary, and afterwards group photographs were taken with the newly admitted candidates. We appreciate the Bishop Francis Adesina for his love for our dear seminary, and pray for God’s grace upon him as he shepherds the flock of God in the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode.
