SOLIDARITY WITH THE VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE
Sunday, February 23, 2020

The spate of violence suffered by various innocent lives, irrespective of religion or tribe, in the Nigerian society today, has become really pathetic and alarming. Without undermining any of such violent attacks, killings, maiming, etc, on individual persons and communities, particular reference is made to the gruesome killing of Rev. Lawan Andimi; the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Adamawa State, and Nnadi Michael; a seminarian of the Good Shepherd Major Seminary, Kaduna. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria has championed various wake-up calls to the Nigerian government through various means, ranging from the release of communiqués, to public presentation, speeches, and many more, in order that the situation of insecurity of lives and property be adequately addressed in the country. To intensify this wake-up call, the Catholics Bishops of Nigeria have requested that all Catholics wear black as a sign of solidarity with all the victims of violence and persecution in the country and beyond. We earnestly seek the intercession of our Blessed Mother for peace and serenity in our country, Nigeria.
