STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Friday, February 28, 2020

Reckoned as a period of mortification and purification, the Lenten season is one of the seasons of the Church’s liturgical year that affords Christ’s faithful ample opportunities to be reconciled to God, and to prepare for the great event of Easter. Aside the three major practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving during this season; the Church also encourages all Christ’s faithful to take active part in the Stations of the Cross. The Stations of the Cross is a liturgical activity that recalls the journey to the cross, portrayed in fourteen major moments (14 stations) of Jesus’ passion. The Stations of the Cross is celebrated in the community of Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija, Ibadan, every Friday in the Seminary chapel. The event usually begins with the Angelus prayer at 6:00pm and ends with Benediction, and is usually presided over by a deacon.
