In the life of the Church, the months of October and May are dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and all Christians are encouraged to recite the rosary daily in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary and to seek her intercession. Usually, the seminary community marks the end of the October Devotion with the celebration of a sung vespers, together with compline after which there is a Rosary procession from the chapel through the various parts of the compound to the Marian Grotto, with lighted candles held by every member of the community. However, due to the restrictions and precautionary measures placed by the reality of the Corona Virus Pandemic, this year’s end of October Devotion was observed in a more solemn and simple manner. On the evening of the 31st October, 2020, the seminary community gathered in the Seminary Chapel at about 5:30pm for the vespers and compline after which there was the recitation of the Holy Rosary, while the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary was placed on an elegantly decorated table in front of the sanctuary. This is, however, novel to the customary Rosary procession around the Seminary compound. Nonetheless, we pray that through the intercession of Mary, peace may be restored in our land and for an end to the corona virus pandemic.
