EASTER CANTATA

On the 15^th of May, 2022, the Seminary of Saints Peter and Paul celebrated the 6^th edition of her Easter Cantata. It is an annual event that celebrates the resurrection of Christ with songs and other instrumental renditions. In his opening speech, the Rector of the Seminary, Fr. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, remarked that the Cantata avails us the opportunity to celebrate, in a special way, the mystery and gift of Easter to humanity. There were choral presentations by the members of the St. Gregory Choir of Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary, the choir from Ascension parish, Bodija, the novices from the Our Lady of Apostles Novitiate, Ibadan, and other choral groups and guests. The highlight of the event was the delivery of the Easter Message by Rev. Fr. Francis Adelabu. He said that the feast of Easter, which is regarded as the Solemnity of solemnities, is the center of our faith as Christians, wherein Christ, by his obedience, restored us to life and friendship with God. However, the Church, which remains the body of Christ, must recognize Christ in his wounded body in order to recognize him in his risen body. Thus, even though the Church is plagued by wounds, emanating from people of this world, she must keep alive the power of the resurrection of Christ among us and nurse the wounds of the inflicted, through her mission in the world and by ensuring solace to all those who run to her. The event was indeed a joyous and refreshing one.
