CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF IBADAN ORGANIZED SEMINAR ON SEXUALITY AND SANCTITY
Saturday, October 20, 2018

On the 18th day of October, 2108, the Archdiocese of Ibadan organized a seminar at St. Luke’s Chapel, University College Hospital, Ibadan (UCH), tagged: Sexuality and Sanctity: Discover Your Identity.  The Seminary of Saints Peter and Paul Bodija, Ibadan was represented by a 30 Man delegation. The occasion was graced by the presence of Most Rev. Emmanuel Badejo, the bishop of Oyo diocese; Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Akinwale OP, several priests and sisters, professionals in the medical line, dignitaries from all walks of life and lay faithful.

The guest speakers, Miss Roseben Anyanwu, Fr. Prof. Anthony Akinwale OP and Prof. P. I. Aziba delivered lectures bordering on various aspects of sexuality. The first speaker, Miss Anyanwu stressed the point of difference between sexuality and sexual orientation. She opines that sexuality is principally different from sexual orientation in that the latter is more encompassing, a gift of God and a communication of love. This claim was supported by Fr. Akinwale who situated the fulfillment of human sexuality only on the service of love. Lastly, Professor Aziba spoke about the influence of social media on human sexuality. Before the closing prayer, Bishop Badejo noted the need and importance of understanding the essence of sexuality.
