The seminary held the first Rector’s conference on the 9th of October, 2018. The conference started at exactly 6pm at the seminary auditorium. In the interaction, the Rector, Fr. Francis O. Adesina started by emphasizing the importance of the words of the Archbishop of Lagos Most Rev Dr. Alfred A. Martins at the inaugural mass that “the seminary, Great Bodija, is located on this hallowed ground but the seminary is a time, a period in the life of each seminarian, it is part of his journey of exploration and discovery of Christ…”. Therefore, seminarians must take to heart the fact that the priestly formation is a long life process, it is a journey of discipleship to continues until death. The Rector further explicated on the focus of the session which reads: Integrity, Docility and Interior Life: Towards the Formation of Priestly Identity. Fr. Adesina admonished the seminarians to understand that they must be conscious of the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles without putting aside sincere openness to formation. He also emphasized the imperative of developing and nourishing interior life. He projected that the outward shows the inside. The world is too noisy; and as such, seminarians in formation must continue to foster their interior life so as to be able to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the flock of God amidst the worldly rowdiness and confusion.
