THE SEMINARY CELEBRATES THE FOURTH EDITION OF EASTER CANTATA
Thursday, May 13, 2021

As part of the celebration of the triumphant resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Seminary community organized, in what has become her customary practice, an Easter Cantata which took place in the Seminary auditorium on Sunday, 25thApril, 2021. The event, which was hosted by the Saint Gregory’s choir of the Seminary, began with a procession by members of the choir and formators to the auditorium. The opening prayer was led by Fr. Joseph-Young Aniaga, and the welcome address was delivered by the Vice Rector, Fr. Anthony Igbekele, on behalf of the Rector, who was unavoidably absent.

The Cantata featured different musical presentations by members of the St. Gregory’s Choir, members of the Church of Accession Choir, Ibadan, Sisters of the Our Lady of Apostles Novitiate (O.L.A), Seminarians from the Scheonsttat Fathers Religious Congregation, and different musical groups in the Seminary. As part of the event, the Easter message was delivered by Rev. Fr. Christopher Ojo, who explained that the Easter Cantata is a musical representation of the story of the Paschal mystery of Christ, and especially, his victory over death.

To mark the end of the event, the closing remarks were given by the Vice Rector, Fr. Anthony Igbekele, while the vote of thanks was given by the choir Master, Rev. Isidore Omodeagbon. This was then followed by the closing prayer and benediction, given by Fr. Stephen Otite, after which there was a recessional hymn and procession back to the sacristy.
