HUMAN LIFE AND SEXUALITY
Wednesday, May 4, 2022

As part of the formative program for the 2021/2022 Academic/Formation Session, the Seminarians of Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija, Ibadan, gathered in the school’s auditorium on Wednesday, 4 May, 2022, to listen to a Talk on Human Life and Sexuality. The talk was delivered by Professor Michael Asuzu. While speaking to seminarians, Professor Asuzu stressed that society is today engrossed with a “sex culture” that reduces everything to carnality. According to him, seminarians have to equip themselves with the requisite knowledge to be able to address the challenges of the prevalent tendency to obscure the meaning of love. He further noted that, contrary to what society presents, chastity is possible and it is an expression of our “Godliness.”

After the talk, seminarians had the opportunity to ask questions. It was an engaging session as Prof. Asuzu provided detailed answers to the diverse questions asked. To end the session on human life and Sexuality, the Speaker recommended some reading texts that would help seminarians understand the true meaning of sexuality and the Church’s position on certain ethical issues that are rampart in the society. It was indeed an enlightening and interesting session for all participants.
