The Rite of Candidacy in the Seminary is an annual event that that comes up on January 25, the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul; where suitable candidates in their second year of theological studies publicly make known their readiness and disposition to officially become candidates for Holy Orders. This year, Fifty-one (51) Seminarians of second year Theology were solemnly admitted as candidates for the Catholic celibate priesthood.

The Mass with Most Rev. Dr. Paul Olawore, the Co-Adjuctor Bishop of Ilorin diocese as the chief celebrant commenced at exactly 8:00 a.m. In his homily, he stresses the importance of true and sincere conversion in the formative years of seminarians aspiring to the sacred priesthood of Christ. He also admonished the formators to continuously integrate the process of formation as well, so that candidates can be truly convinced of their call and be truly converted to God, and not to any human being.

It was indeed a great ceremony whose memory shall not fade away anytime soon.
