WORLD MISSION SUNDAY: CELEBRATING ITS 93RD EDITION IN OUR SEMINARY

The Universal Church, in union with the Holy Father, Pope Francis, celebrated the 93rd edition of the World Mission Sunday on the 20th of October, 2019; a celebration, which graciously occurred during the celebration of the Extraordinary Missionary Month in the month of October, as called for by the Holy Father.  The Seminary of Ss. Peter and Paul, Bodija, Ibadan, was not excluded from these joyous and prayerful moments, as she organized the 6th edition of her missionary outreach for the youths of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan on the 20th of October, 2019. The event which began with the celebration of the Holy Mass at exactly 7:02am had Rev. Fr. Kenneth Adesina as the Chief Celebrant, with the presence of concelebrating priests, seminarians, and various lay Catholics.

The celebration had its other phase in the seminary auditorium, where a massive number of Catholic youths and members of the Holy Childhood Association, religious houses of formation and institutes, lay men and women, and other invited guests were gathered to relish the beautiful musical renditions, drama, dance, speeches, lecture and interactions that the event offered. The talk titled Involvement of Young generation in the Missionary Activities of the Church was also given by Rev. Fr. Michael Ogunniyi”, all of which were avenues to preach the gospel message and lead people closer to Christ. The members of some Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, such as the Sisters of St. Louis, Daughters of Charity of the Precious Most Precious Blood, Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles, Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, Sisters of the Divine Love, Oblates of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Order of Discalced Carmelites, Oblates of St. Joseph, The Vocationists, Society of the African Mission, were given the opportunity to promote their spirituality and charisms to the youth, in order to plant in them, the seeds of vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
