THE SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE KING OF THE UNIVERSE
Thursday, December 10, 2020

The last Sunday of every liturgical year (being the Sunday before the First Sunday of Advent) is dedicated to the celebration of Christ the King. This feast was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925 to reassert the sovereignty and kingship of Christ, as King of the Universe. In union with the Universal Church, the Seminary Community celebrated this feast on the 22nd of November, 2020. However, due to the stark reality of the time and the new normal posed by the Corona Virus Pandemic, the celebration was held at two different venues. On the one hand, the freshmen and pastoral year returnees had their celebration in the Auditorium, beginning with the Holy Mass at exactly 7:00 am, presided by Rev. Fr. Joseph Aniaga, after which they had one-hour adoration of the Eucharistic Jesus, exposed in the monstrance. On the other hand, the other students, formators and some domestic workers had their celebration in the Seminary Chapel. The celebration started with a solemn Mass at exactly 7:00am, which was presided by Rev. Fr. Anselm Jimoh. After the Liturgy of the Eucharist, there was a Eucharistic procession round the Seminary compound with chants and songs of praise acclaiming Christ as King, who was exposed in the monstrance. After a joyous moment of praise and adoration, the procession led back to the chapel where there was the benediction and this brought the celebration to an end.

Christus vincit, Christus regnat, Christus imperat
