The 30th of October was far from being a usual Tuesday evening; the ambience of anticipation and aura of joy with pride was infectious as the Bishops of the region (Lagos, Ibadan, and Benin City ecclesiastical provinces) graced the compound with their presence. They joined in the solemn celebration of the Vespers and Compline after which they proceeded to the conference room for their first meeting. The Bishops meet annually but rotationally in the seminaries of the region both as agents of formation and proprietors in order to discuss issues that will enhance and aid priestly training.

On Wednesday, 31st of October the whole community had a votive Mass of the Holy Spirit in thanksgiving for a successful meeting which was presided over by Most. Rev. Dr. Gabriel ‘Leke Abegunrin, the Metropolitan of Ibadan who in his homily stressed the importance of obedience and discipline for a suitable formative process.

After the Holy Mass a procession led the whole assembly to the front of the newly constructed administrative building which is named after the first rector of the seminary Fr. Maurice Maguire SMA (1917-1993) who also saw to the relocation of the seminary from Benin City, Edo State to Ibadan City, Oyo State. The administrative building has nineteen rooms for administration, a reception, a conference room, and lobbies for guests. It was blessed and commissioned by the Metropolitan of Ibadan, His Grace Gabriel ‘Leke Abegunrin together with other Bishops present.
